Amara: A Harmonious Blend of Luxury and Nature

Unveiling Ian Wallace's Award-Winning Body Care Packaging Design

Inspired by nature, the Hammam ritual, and the Emirates' traditional ingredients, Ian Wallace's Amara body care packaging design is a unique blend of luxury and natural elements. This innovative design has been recognized with a prestigious Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2019.

Amara, a body care packaging design by Ian Wallace, is a unique blend of luxury and nature. The design is inspired by the Hammam ritual of the Middle East and the traditional, all-natural ingredients of the Emirates. The packaging, a combination of marble and wood, is said to transmit energy and emotions, creating an intimate and personal connection between the user and the design.

Two types of marble and wood were used in the design. The darker grey and blue tones of the first marble generate a passionate and sincere energy, connecting with the user's body and mind. The second marble, warmer in tone, creates a connection between light and soul. The spirit of the trees, believed to have magical, spiritual, and divine properties, is honored in the use of wood.

The packaging design includes Amara Body Oil and Amara Body Exfoliant, each with their respective boxes. The boxes, designed in black and white, are meant to surprise the user upon revealing the colors and design inside. The application of the product to the skin is said to create a connection between body and soul.

The design project began in June 2018 in Dubai and was completed in August of the same year. The packaging designs were nominated for two prestigious awards: the International Clap Awards 2018 and the Latin American Latampack Awards 2018. They were also selected as the Favorite Design of the Day in England and Dubai.

The design's research was based on the Roman Thermae or hot baths, and the Hammam, an Arabic steam bath. These are the oldest surviving bath traditions in the world and have inspired many modern bathing rituals. The combination of marble and wood in the packaging design is meant to take the user back to antiquity.

The biggest challenge in the design process was combining marble and wood in a way that the products would react well within a natural packaging. The products were found to last one month longer in natural packaging than in plastic packaging, making the challenge a success.

The Amara body care packaging design by Ian Wallace is a unique blend of luxury and nature, creating an intimate and personal connection between the user and the design. The design has been recognized with a prestigious Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2019, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
